Its tight in the middle!

14th March 2010 – Liquid Lounge Lizzards V’s Patong Cricket Club

After holding off the top spot on the competition ladder several times this year, the Patong team went into this game with high hopes of securing a top finals berth with still one game to play for each team.

LLL won the toss and decided to bat first with their opening pair managing to hold off the fast paced opening bowling from Patong. Runs were scarce and fielding tight as both sides tried to assert their dominance early on.

Everyone at the ground could tell this game could go either way but the batting of LLL proved that they were not going to give it up easy.  Managing a creditable 216 runs from the full 35 overs and only losing 7 wickets was a very good effort.

After managing to reach a higher score to win the game against the Laguna side, the Patong batting line up was confident of another victory, however, this LLL side did not give up and after knocking off one opener and first drop both without scoring the Patong side couldn’t manage to recover and after Simon Samaan ran the last batsman out with a poor call the LLL side claimed victory.

This win now gives the 2nd, 3rd and 4th teams a shot at the top finals game.  All eyes should be on the games in the following weeks to see who will make it.
