Sunday 19th February
This should have had all the makings of an exciting match with ICC at the top of the table and BCIS having showed impressive form in previous matches. Unfortunately the scorers were hardly troubled. BCIS won the toss and asked BCIS to bat. Nifty Catts then proceeded to demolish the strong ICC batting line-up with an unbelievable spell of seam bowling. Wickets tumbled at an alarming rate and ICC were skittled out for just 22 runs, Catts finishing with the impressive figures of 6 overs 7 for 9. He was well supported by Millward’s 5 overs 2 for 12 and some athletic BCIS fielding.
So with just 22 to win, BCIS were in confident mood. However, the ICC side became very excited when Diwan and Tannu sent the two star BCIS batsmen, Roddy Meyer and Andy Millward, back to the pavillion with ducks. There were mutterings of ‘cricket’s a funny old game’ around the pavillion but Dennis Bacon took control and steered his side to an easy victory with 16 not out including a huge six to win the game.

Man of the Match : Nifty Catts
Island CC v Kamala BGCC 2006
Sunday 12th March 2006
This was the top vs bottom of the table clash and ICC decided to bat first having won the toss, no doubt looking for some practise with their place in the final pretty much already guaranteed. Deepak Mehra opened the batting with Richy Sadarangani. However Sadarangani was soon sent packing, LBW to Hardeep Kapoor without scoring. ICC continued to lose wickets consistently before Sameer Khan joined Mehra who had been holding the innings together with some watchful batting. These two took their side to 169 for 5 with a partnership of 107 before Mehra ran his partner out when he had called for a second having just reached his 50. Mehra followed him not long after, caught behind for a well constructed 73. Jafar Ali (20) and Diwan Mydeen (21) then produced some lusty blows to take their side to 235 all out. Ray Muller bowled his 10 overs particularly well for 1 for 28 and was well supported by Kapoor (10 overs 3 for 53) and Surender (10 overs 3 for 57). The fielding from KBG was committed if nothing else and there was more than one bloody knee and elbow when they trudged off after 39 overs in some pretty oppressive heat.
236 to win was always going to be a tall order and once their hard hitting captain Andrew Scattergood was out for a squash buckling 40, they were never going to be in the hunt. Kamala BGCC were dismissed for 61 in the end off 16 overs. The wickets were shared amongst the ICC bowlers with Khan, Dev, Ali and Tannu all taking two wickets each.
Patong CC vs Island CC Match Report 2006
Sunday 26th February 2006
After last week’s results this was the top of the table clash with ICC just 7 points behind PCC. PCC won the toss and elected to bat. In the previous meeting between these two teams, ICC had amassed 256 runs off their 40 overs after PCC had put them in to bat. So the PCC captain was under pressure from his team not to let this happen again! Unfortunately for PCC things didn’t start any better and they were soon 2 wickets down for just 2 runs after 3 overs. The wickets then continued to fall at regular intervals and PCC only managed 97 runs from 23 overs before losing their last wicket. The only ‘double figure’ contributions came from Rich Brown with 34 runs and Mark Whetton with 14 along with ‘extras’ contributing 22 to the total. All seven of the the ICC bowlers bowled well and the wickets were distributed evenly. Sameer Khan returned the best figures of 4 overs 2 for 6. Mention should also be made of the high standard of ICC’s fielding.
Although PCC were disappointed with their total, they were well aware of ICC’s performance the week before when they were dismissed for just 22 runs by BCIS. When Seemant Raju sent in-form ICC batsman Deepak Mehra back to the pavilion in the first over, PCC’s spirits were lifted. However, ICC settled down after this early set-back and proceeded to score freely achieving the target number of runs in the 15th over after losing just 4 wickets. Mannu batted very sensibly pushing ones and twos and putting the bad balls away for 4. He top scored with 41 runs, supported by Anand Chand (10), Jafar Ali (10) and Raju Panday (17 not out). The bowlers worked hard in the midday heat and the PCC fielding was much improved – Jason Phillips taking two good catches behind the stumps and Pat Cotter taking a ‘steepler’ at deep mid wicket, much to everyone’s surprise, including his own! The pick of the bowlers were Raju with 2 for 25 from 4 overs, Nimit Narula with 1 for 27 from 6 and, although unrewarded with a wicket, mention should be made of Terry William’s canny off spin, conceding just 13 runs from 4 overs.
