PCG News Notes
Welcome to what we plan to be a regular and ongoing effort to inform all PCG Members of the goings on and events relating to the game of Cricket in Phuket. Our last notes document was emailed out last December and due to internal conflicts we have not been able to communicate effectively until now.

Following are quick notes of interest:

NEW CONSTITUTION – At the AGM the MC agreed to redraw our constitution. A drafting party has been formed and started work on 13 July. Meanwhile, we will abide by the existing constitution until the new one has been completed and is in place.

TOURING TEAM – The Zaheer Abbas Cricket Academy from Pakistan visited our island recently and we managed one game which was enjoyed by all. A full report can be seen HERE. A hearty “Well Done” goes out to our new Tournament Director, Richard Folds for his efforts in getting everything organised under short notice.

PATTAYA TOUR - A recent tour was made up to Pattaya to play against the Pattaya Cricket Club. Click HERE to view the report.

YOUTH CRICKET - 1 July to 1 August the PCG is again sending an U15 team to the 4th. Kuala Lumpur Youth Cricket Festival. A full report will be made on this event so keep an eye on the website.

COURSES - A CAT level 1 umpiring course was being organised for 29, 30 and 31 July, however, due to many teachers being on holidays this has been postponed for a month. This course is free of charge, anybody who wishes to attend (or confirm dates) should send their name to Anthony, e-mail anthony@uplrealestate.com, or call mobile 0800 417 227.

SENIOR CRICKET – We are starting to put things together for the 2010/2011 Island Furniture Senior League. Would teams who are going to compete please indicate their intentions to Anthony, e-mail anthony@uplrealestate.com, mobile 0800 417 227.

SAWASDEE LEAGUE – The PCG’s Youth Development Officer, K. Mam, is starting to put things together for the 2010/2011 Sawasdee League. Any information about which teams will be competing and any dates when schools are on holiday etc. will be gratefully received. Please contact Mam on rdo@phuketcricket.com or 0839 686 029.

CRICKET EQUIPMENT – Very reasonably priced cricket gear can now be purchased through the PCG. We can arrange just about any kind of gear required and some samples can be seen on our website HERE. Contact Ian Lenton on ianlenton@hotmail or 0811 871 571 for more information.
